never met a dog i didn't like

Over the last few months, I have really been trying to watch what I eat. That means less of some of my favorite things which unfortunately includes hotdogs. Every trip to Costco was a sad day when I could not indulge.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Last week I discovered that Boar's Head Skinless Beef Frankfurters combined with a whole wheat high fiber hotdog bun, can be enjoyed for only 200 calories! I wasn't sure what to expect, sometimes it is better not to eat your favorite things at all then have to suffer through a tasteless substitute. These dogs are outstanding, reminiscent of being at a sporting event outstanding, make me want a cold beer outstanding and I don't even drink beer.

they're real!

For all the make up products I have tried in my life, I have never found a mascara that I absolutely love, until recently. My darling Melissa told me I had to try Bobbi Brown's Extreme Party Mascara. I have to admit that I did not jump on the task, I was quite skeptical.

Turns out it really is the best mascara (no question) that I have ever used. It adds impressive volume and length (like artificial lashes) and the best part is that there is no clumping or flaking...ever. You can add layer on layer and it goes on smooth, in fact it was made so that you can even re-apply. Totally worth the money, totally worth the drive, totally worth a shipping charge.

canoe

When I visit Portland, an absolute must is a trip to Canoe. It is by far my favorite shop in town. They stock a well edited collection of curiosities I covet. From felt textiles to Heath ceramics to beautiful books, Canoe is where it's at.

the play by play

Last week I hit the road for work. Part of traveling so much for work means that you have to become good at self entertainment.

My first evening away, I treated myself to a picture show. I saw The Blind Side, and I absolutely loved it. The story is moving, inspiring, but best of all it is a true story.

Then I headed over to the Nordstrom and treated myself to a couple things. First up, a Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Blue Raspberry. This is by far my most favorite lipstick right now. It is nice and moist...perfect for winter wear.

I have had my eye on the Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deoderant for a while, and decided to finally try it. I don't know what took me so long. Wow! It has a soft scent and works really well...for those of you still doing your shopping, this would be a great stocking stuffer.

A successful evening out, and back to the hotel for a rest.

Road ID

Every now and then we all come across companies we really believe in. That is how I feel about Road ID

Road ID is a company that makes a variety of identifcation accoutrement. Two years ago I purchased the Wrist ID Sport for Josh who (as you know) likes to ride motorcycles. Last year I purchased the same item for my father who travels extensively. Tonight I ordered one for myself to wear while I am running. Road ID speaks for you in the event you can't speak for yourself. There are so many reasons why these are a good idea.

The thoughtful people over at Road ID also donate a portion of their sales to various charities. When checking out, you can select the charity you would like to support. Protecting yourself and helping someone else, now that is something I believe in.

a cup of chocolate mint goodness

One of my new favorite things is Chocolate Mint Rooibos Tea. This tea is equally enjoyable as a hot or cold drink. It is a caffeine free, so you are free to indulge at any hour.

I buy it locally at The Tea Grotto, however you can also order it on their website.

This would be a great holiday gift for someone, with a price tag of less than $5.

has geometry ever sounded this good?

Since Bree is out of town (And to prove that I'm not dead) I thought I'd post a little something worth listening to ... Long story short, these guys from finland have put out some of the coolest music I've heard in a very long time (Not to mention they have some pretty darn good taste in architecture too). And yes, I still buy CD's... because I'm old... and because I like the liner notes almost as much as the music.

audrey darling

I can't wait to read this book that I got today. Written by Audrey Hepburn's son, I think this book should tell her story with unique perspective.

peachy keen

My darling (and ultra-hip) friend Victoria sent me a cute care package which included this. Benefit's peachy gloss smells delightful, tastes even better and isn't sticky at all.

Thanks, Vic. You sure know how to pick 'em.

new and improved

Lite Brite was one of my favorite toys as a child. Does anyone else think it's funny that today they offer a flat screen version, opposed to the big honkin' one from the 80's?

tasty

When you're in the mood for a simple salad this summer, try some sliced tomatoes and peaches with this amazing dressing. It is one of our favorites.

hot bod

I have been practicing Pilates on and off for about 4 years, and I absolutely love it. The physical and mental benefits are tremendous.

I am so amazed by the man who founded it all, Joseph Pilates. Seriously, who looks like this at 77?

We got a couple of these collapsible totes a few years ago. Road trips, picnics, market shopping, all made easier.

the skinny

If you have not had one of these, get in your car and get one now. Life will never be the same again.

At just 140 calories each, you can afford to indulge.

victim of unkl

A few months ago, Josh blogged about his UNLK brand toys (here), today I thought I'd tell you about mine.

When we first started dating Josh told me all about them, I thought they were interesting, but not something I would collect. That was before I met the Fashion Victims. I became UNKL brands next victim.
