the long road home

{photo of my grandfather, my father and his brother in new york,

Today we said good-bye to my grandfather (Opa for the Dutch minded). He spent 87 years in this world and made it a much better place for many, but especially for me. I will miss him and will always hold his memory close to me.

Josh and Bree,

My sympathies go out to both of you. I know your Opa was a very special man in your lives. He will live on in your hearts and in the wonderful Dutch traditions you so proudly maintain. By keeping that heritage strong you keep a part of him with you always.

My thoughts are with you

Hi Josh

Our hearts are with you during this time. I never met your grandfather however have come to know the humor and gentle soul that resides within you and can't help but think that these are a portion of him that lives within you, and as such this timeless gift from him lives on. For that I am grateful for you being in the life of myself and my daughter.
