We all missed Henri today while he was at the animal hospital having emergency surgery on his bladder. My heart broke for Henri, and for Franklin who didn't know where his brother went. Happily he will be home tonight.

les gateaux
Our cakes for the wedding, all nine of them, were made by our favorite pastry chef, Romina, at Les Madeleines Patisserie. We had three different kinds of cake, the Madagascar (vanilla cake, cream cheese frosting with white chocolate sprinkles), the Jaipur (cardamom cake, rose syrup and pistachio buttercream), and the Rio (chocolate cake with passion fruit buttercream).
Les gâteaux étaient extraordinaires!

mini me's
Goosegrease created these darling cake toppers for our wedding cake, don't they look just like us? They were perfect for the cakes and are a beautiful keepsake of our day.

avedon
I haven't been able to stop thinking about the work of Richard Avedon since we saw the exhibit of his soul stirring work at SFMOMA a few weeks ago.
See more of his amazing work here.

get fuzzy
Josh found this Get Fuzzy comic in the paper this morning, it cracked us both up! I love the subtle Canadian humor.

fashion remix
Twice a year I closely follow coverage of New York Fashion Week. I dream of being there in person, of being part of the excitement and creative synergy. I am a loyal and dedicated fan of Project Runway and far too many other fashion programs. There is something that fashion can do for the soul.
Interior Design and Fashion Design will meet on the runway here is Salt Lake City at Fashion Remix in October. It is the first event of it's kind in Utah. Design teams have been challenged to use architectural products to produce high fashion and mix things up.
I have sponsored a team through the company that I work for, and I am very excited about it. This is going to be a great event. Tickets are still available and proceeds go to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Details on how to get tickets can be found here.

minimoon
We coined a new word over here while wedding planning, it is minimoon.
A minimoon is a short getaway after the wedding, but prior to the honeymoon. The term minimoon also makes it perfectly clear to new spouse that the honeymoon is not yet complete.
We took a minimoon or half moon (as Josh prefers to call it) to San Francisco, California. We will be taking our official honeymoon to Europe next Spring.

1, 2, 3
When Josh and I got engaged, we sat down and wrote a list of people we would like to work with on certain things for the wedding, our "dream team". Ashley from Isabell's Umbrella was the only person we wanted to work with to do our invitations and other graphic projects.
We wanted something that would express who we are and what is important to us. Ashley suggested using our 123 house theme, and we loved it! We had three progressive steps to the wedding, 1. the ceremony, 2. the dinner reception and 3. the dessert reception hosted by Henri and Franklin at 123 house...naturally.
Here are a few pictures of our invitations. They turned out even better than we expected. The gorgeous letterpress was done by The Mandate Press.

In the words of Nene Leakes from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, "I could be a size __, but I am f***ing hungry".

hello world
Five years ago my life was very uncertain in many ways. I was still figuring out who I was and what I wanted, I suppose I was just growing up.
At the same time, a beautiful little soul was born into the world and would come into my life 8 weeks later. I would call him Henri.
More than anyone in this world, he has been by my side through good and bad, loving me unconditionally through it all. He helped me find my way and continues to do so every day.
In celebration of his 5th birthday, I will donate $5 to the Humane Society of Utah for every comment left on this post between now and September 30th. I will also match any donations made to the Humane Society of Utah (just leave a note on your comment about your donation).

lost in space
Okay kittens, we are officially back online. We've had a lot going on here at 123 house the last few weeks. We had a fun filled wedding celebration with our favorite people in the whole world, a break from work and an adventurous minimoon holiday to San Francisco, and now we are a little 'lost in space'.
Before the wedding, we didn't share a lot of details, as not to give everything away before the day, but we will slowly feature them on the blog now so everyone can see. We will also post photos of the big day as they are available to us.
Thanks for bearing with us as we get navigate back to our everyday life.

coco before chanel
I have had a love affair with Coco Chanel for years, so naturally I was thrilled to hear about the upcoming September 25th release of Coco Before Chanel starring Audrey Tatou.
I will be waiting patiently until November 6th, when in opens here in Salt Lake City. Anyone have a chance to see it sooner?

such a good feeling
The posts have been light lately...sorry. Life got quite busy with the wedding festivities, but life should be returning to normal soon. We will be away for a few more days, but we will be back very, very soon.
Can't wait to share everything with you!
It's such a good feeling, a very good feeling, the feeling you know that I'll be back when the day is new. I'll have more ideas for you, you'll have things you'll want to talk about, I will too.
