I have had my nose buried in this book all week.
It is a story of passion, determination and love. The Sharper Your Knife the Less You Cry is a real life grown-up fairytale come true.

note to self
I just returned home today from traveling for business.
Note to self: Staying in hotel rooms that sit above nightclubs are a bad idea. Be sure to research online hotel deals more carefully.
I am in recovery mode now.

dress down
This hooded dress would be a great alternative to jeans on a Saturday.

saucy
I love blankets. I am a napper. The two come hand in hand. It would be lovely to wrap myself this saucy little tomato number.

worse than that
It's worse that the stinky diapers she changed, the boo boos she kissed better and the tears she wiped away.
It's worse than when I told her she didn't understand, told her she was always wrong and didn't listen to her.
It's worse than living 1784 miles apart, than missing her everyday, and not telling her I love her often enough.
Eight days ago, I forgot to tell the world how much I love my mom on her special day.
I love you, Mom. Happy (belated) Birthday!

c'est l'halloween...
If you took french classes as a child in southern Ontario, you probably know this song, and know how to appropriately respond to this post.
Come on, you can do it! Put a smile on this pumpkins face.

brainwear
I spotted these ultra-chic bike helmets by Yakkay over at Design Mom.
Choose your helmet, choose your favorite cover(s), protect that pretty little head of yours.

kitsch free kitchen
If we were organized enough to host a Halloween party, I would use this textile from Ikea for a tablecloth. It's Halloween-ish without being too kitschy.

sleeping beauty
Today I surprised my Prince Charming with a copy of the 50th anniversary edition of his favorite Disney movie, Sleeping Beauty. An appropriate gift to the one who's kiss changed my life.
I admire Josh's broad appreciation of art, and unexpected affections. I love that he loves this movie.

stocking stalking
I am only slightly embarassed to admit that I have been stalking some of my favorite online retail shops daily in search of new holiday decor. Today CB2 delivered.

toasty times
The air is crisp, the light is thin, and toasty times are coming. I am starting to make a list of my fall projects.
Has anyone made homemade marshmallows before?

canada knows how to vote
Tomorrow is election day north of the border. Elections should be like removing bandaids. Do it quickly and avoid the pain.
Congratulations Canada...you've got it figured out!

It actually frightens me that things like this are available to people who may not know any better.

mini dates
Every couple has their "thing". Ours is "mini dates". Tonight Josh asked me on a mini date. We went to dinner and did a little shopping. Mini dates are not anything grand, but they make me feel like I am.
Thanks for taking me out, love.

scary treats for little peeps
These treats from Jones Soda are too cute. I loved getting pop (soda) at Halloween when I was a kid and it wasn't nearly this fancy.

With Canadian Thanksgiving just around the corner, floating apple votives seem like an extra good idea.

I received this book last week as a gift while I was in New York. It's like finishing school in written form, and it has darling illustrations.
