nacho everyday snack

Sometimes when we have guests, or when we are feeling fancy we eat Rich People Nachos.

They are easy, delicious, and pretentious enough to eat with a glass of wine.

Rich People Nachos:

1 bag of salted kettle chips
crumbled gorgonzola or blue cheese
chopped chives

Layer chips and cheese as you would if you were making normal (poor people) nachos. Top with chives.

Bake in oven at 350 until cheese is melted.

Enjoy (you fancy pants)!

hidden treasure

It's like a little gold oyster opened up and there she was.

If you blush easily, you may not want to read this post.

When "decorating", some like for things to be matchy matchy...the drapes and the rug for instance. Perhaps they matched at one time and one has faded with age. What to you do?

Maybe you like contrast between your drapes and rug and prefer to "decorate" accordingly. Where to start?

Whatever your challenge, Betty the "decorator" is here to help. Whether you prefer a classic look, or something more fun, she can hook you up. Oh, but you should know she specialized in rugs.

Getting important matters properly documented has been on my list of New Years resolutions for years. This handy book makes the task look a lot less daunting.

Doesn't this look smart?

peachy keen

My darling (and ultra-hip) friend Victoria sent me a cute care package which included this. Benefit's peachy gloss smells delightful, tastes even better and isn't sticky at all.

Thanks, Vic. You sure know how to pick 'em.

I have a major crush on this dress.

watch out

Tomorrow I am headed to Houston for training. I am quite excited about it except for one thing...the humidity. You see, we don't really get along. I am a curly haired girl by nature.

Watch out Texas, another big hair is coming to town.

I got a look similar to this tonight when I locked us out of the house...oops.

Sorry, babe.

new and improved

Lite Brite was one of my favorite toys as a child. Does anyone else think it's funny that today they offer a flat screen version, opposed to the big honkin' one from the 80's?

tasty

When you're in the mood for a simple salad this summer, try some sliced tomatoes and peaches with this amazing dressing. It is one of our favorites.

pure bliss

Heavenly.

sew what!

I love entertaining, and I love discovering ways to make it look like I did more than I actually did. It's all smoke and mirrors, friends!

Today I discovered Sy an iron on hemming tape available from Ikea. Add some of this to the edges of one of their beautiful textiles and voila, you have a new table cloth or table runner to deck out your table.

So what if you can't sew or you're too lazy, no one will ever be the wiser.

undercover workout

When I workout, I often pretend that I am doing something else. The more disguised the workout is, the better.

I am sure it will not be a surprise when I tell you that I also enjoy athletic clothes that don't look like athletic clothes.

I stumbled upon this top by Canada's Arc'Teryx a few weeks back, and had to get it. It is awesome for pilates and yoga classes.

happy fathers day

I know my dad was handpicked from millions of others to be my dad. I know it in my soul.

My dad is a special man. Being a father to four daughters is not for the faint of heart. He is kind, patient, and trusting. He is a teacher, a confidante, and a friend. Laughter comes easily, anger is slow, and he is always quick to forgiveness.

I believe with my whole heart that if every girl was lucky enough to have my dad as her own, the world would be be a better place.

I love you, Dad.

Love Bree

THURSDAY IS MY FAVORITE DAY.

I believe Thursday is the most hopeful day of the week. The first 3 days are becoming a memory, the promise of the weekend is on the horizon. On Thursdays anything is possible.

What day do you love?

i love chew too!

This is a real message that Josh wrote to me about 2 years ago, I never erased it. I recently parted with the chalk board, but I just couldn't part with this.

So sweet.

I am thrilled about these new stamps which will be for sale on June 17th. If only they could be around forever.

Pre-order yours here.

I finally ordered a case for my digital camera. This is the one I got. It's cute and the color makes it easy to find in my bag.

smooth move

If you want to get me into your pants, something like this might work.

Dockers new commercial features the seriously smooth sounds of Marlena Shaw singing California Soul. Listen to it here.

I don't think I'm quite ready to get into Dockers, but it made me think about it...for a second.

Josh and I totally need one of these for 123 house. Get yours here.

island getaway

When my BFF was visiting a couple weeks ago, we went to Antelope Island for a day trip. I can't believe I have lived in Utah for almost 8 years and had never been, it is such an amazing place. Make sure you put this on your must do list. Say hi to our new buddy Billy when you're there.

When I was a small child, an eye exam at nursery school revealed that I wasn't able to see out of one of my eyes.

My parents took me to see an eye doctor, I only remember the big wicker penguin in the corner of the waiting room, and the red sucker they gave me on the way out. They broke the news to me that I was going to have to wear glasses, I had a lazy eye. They said I was almost legally blind.

After my tears, we went to the library and checked out all the childrens books they had on glasses. My mother comforted me with the fact that I could pick out any pair of glasses I wanted. In those days there weren't a lot choices, blue or pink. In fact, they didn't even have glasses small enough so the shop heated up the arms of the pair I chose so they could bend them to fit around my small head.

For a few years I wore a patch over my good eye to make my bad eye stronger. It was basically a big bandaid, again few options back then. I would sit on the bathroom counter each morning and beg my parents to leave it off that day. They always said no. I don't think I've ever thanked my parents for this.

I also ate a lot of carrots during those years, I heard that they were good for your eyes. Today, I still don't see well out of that eye, but I can see better.

I have a soft spot in my heart for small children with glasses. I always hope that people are kind to them. It breaks my heart when I hear that some children are made fun of for wearing glasses. I was lucky, no one ever treated me poorly. Not once was I called four eyes, at least to my face. The whole experience left me feeling special rather than different, a valuable lesson at a young age.

If you do one thing tonight, go here and listen to the tunes of Canadian singer and songwriter, Lights (aka Valerie Poxleitner), then go here and buy it.

I have been listening to her music all day, I just can't get enough.

super bike!!!

{my dream ducati 848 superbike}

As Bree mentioned in an earlier post, we spent a few days at the world superbike races at Miller Motorsports park in celebration of my old age (yeah birthday's are getting tough for me). Well, I spent a few days there, Bree spent a few hours, and as much fun as a monster golf-cart would be, I think this superbike would feel much more at home in the garage with my other beloved ducs!

{nori haga on the track}

Who could argue with the beauty seen here in the foreground and the background?

Now tell me you wouldn't have a hard time getting up in the morning.

merci

Yves Saint Laurent passed away late yesterday evening, marking the end of an era.

Many say this genius was responsible for the way that modern women dress, also for putting women in pants. To this I say merci.

hot bod

I have been practicing Pilates on and off for about 4 years, and I absolutely love it. The physical and mental benefits are tremendous.

I am so amazed by the man who founded it all, Joseph Pilates. Seriously, who looks like this at 77?

I hate water. I always have. In an effort to overcome this like a big girl, I'll be toting around one of these bad boys...at least I'll look cool. Wish me luck.

toys

Today Josh and I spent the day at the race track with some of our friends to watch the World Superbike Races. It was a lot of fun.

While I was there I was able to observe people who attend these sorts of events regularly. It was amazing how well equipped people were...trailers, golf carts. It made we want the t@b trailer even more than before. I also decided that I need a fancy golf cart to drive to the porta-potty or concession stand. This one has enough room for all my friends and I could have it custom painted to match the t@b.

trashy dreams

I never saw myself as the kind of girl who needed a monster truck. I think I may have officially changed my mind.

I love this Monster Truck Vessel from the North American Wildlife Series by Canadian ceramicist Paige Russell. This piece makes the monster trucks look like a modern work of art.

Make sure you check out her website or Etsy shop or both.

jersey girl

I can't stop thinking about the Sheer Jersey Scarf from American Apparel. It is available in a lot colors, and can be used in so many different ways. Seems like it would be a smart thing to have tucked away in your tote.
